Emilia Pardo Bazán
Emilia Pardo Bazán (1851-1921) is Spain's most important woman writer, certainly of the nineteenth century. She was a pioneering feminist activist and one of the few women of the nineteenth century whose works--some of the classics of Spanish Realism/Naturalism--were immedaitely accepted in the national literary canon. She was a frequent contributor of kiosk literature, especially toward the end of her life. In fact, her Rodando (La Novela Corta, no. 253, 1920) was probably one of the last works of fiction of hers to be published.
