Cecilia Böhl de Faber ( "Fernán Caballero")
Cecilia Böhl de Faber ( "Fernán Caballero"), one of Spain's most reknowned women writers of the nienteenth century, died in 1877 and never knew that some of her work, among which is her most well-known novel La gaviota (1849), would be republished as works of kiosk literature. The survival of her legacy, however, is not surprising, given that admiration of her was common among more conservative or right-leaning women writers, such as Blanca de los Ríos.
