Healing Through the Humanities
2026 Webinar Series
Series Schedule
Webinar #1: The Art of Storytelling – Tuesday Feb. 3, 2026 5:30 PM-7:00 PM EST
The Art of Storytelling was the first webinar in the Healing through the Humanities series that introduced the core principles and practices of narrative medicine through guided discussions on an audiovisual work. Students analyzed communication strategies, narrative ethics, and the skills required for the sharing of others’ stories to better understand the human dimensions of health and healing.
This webinar is required for students enrolled in AH*188*01 and BL*188*01 and CM*308*01S.
Webinar #2: The Stories We Tell Ourselves – Tuesday Feb. 24, 2026 6:00 PM-7:00 PM EST
The Stories We Tell Ourselves expanded on the core principles and practices learned in The Art of Storytelling, shifting the focus from an audiovisual analysis to the close reading of a poem exploring themes of loss, empathy, and the nature of kindness. Through shared interpretations of the text, students examined concepts of objectivity, bias, and underlying assumptions in relation to the critical distinction between seeing a person and merely seeing a diagnosis.
This webinar is required for students enrolled in AH*188*01 and BL*188*01.
Webinar #3: TBD– Tuesday Mar. 17, 2026 6:00 PM-7:00 PM EST
This webinar is required for students enrolled in AH*188*01 and BL*188*01.
Healing Through the Humanities is an interdisciplinary workshop series providing students, particularly those studying humanities, psychology, or pre-health majors the opportunity to engage in literary and art analysis, including insights on how to create pathways to interpret experiences of health and healing.
The series will culminate in a final showcase of created works hosted by Narrative Medicine expert Nicole Robinson, MFA.
