THE REPORT OF THE SECRETARY
We wish to call to the attention of all libraries—public, academic and
special collections—the fact that the sub-title of our publication The
Report is Journal of German-American History. By making this announce-
ment again, we hope this will be noted in the public catalogs of each
respective library. This sub-title was added to our publication, beginning
with The Report 33.
Since the publication of our last Report in 1975, two of the long-time
members, Otto H. Franke, Former President of the Society, and C. William
Schneidereith, Sr., President of one of Baltimore's fine publishing com-
panies, passed away. Both men made outstanding contributions to the
Society for many years.
We stated in the last Report that the German Baroque collection of our
President, Harold Jantz, had been made available to the world of research
through microfilm publication. A three volume printed bibliography of
the Jantz collection on microfilm also appeared in 1974.
In 1976, the Library of Duke University received the entire European
and German Baroque collection of Professor Jantz who has since moved
to Durham.
After his retirement from The Johns Hopkins University, Professor
Jantz was invited to give seminars and courses at a number of universities.
He will carry on his research and give at least one seminar per year at
Duke University.
Since the publication of our last Report, the guest speakers at the
Annual Dinner Meeting of the Society, traditionally held in February of
each year, were:
1976
KLAUS WUST   (Editor, The Report), "The Germans in the American Revolution."
1977
PROFESSOR ERICH ALBRECHT,   (Founder of the Max Kade German-American Docu-
ments and Manuscript Center, University of Kansas at Lawrence), "Eduard Dorsch
and the Civil War."
1978
PROFESSOR   WILLIAM   H.   McCLAIN    (The   Johns   Hopkins   University),   "Professor
William Kurrelmeyer Collection of Manuscripts and Books in the Milton E. Eisen-
hower Library of The Johns Hopkins University."
