Born in Baltimore 1875. Ph.D. of Johns Hopkins "Univer-
sity, 1898. Professor of English at the Richmond "Woman's College and
the Baltimore City College. Principal of Baltimore Eastern High School
(1909-21), of Western High School (1921-37). Contributed to several
educational journals, the Baltimore Sun and the Reports of our Society.
ALBERT B. FAUST.
Born in Baltimore 1870, died as professor emeritus in
Ithaca, New York, 1951. Author of The German Element in the United
States and of many other publications in the field of "Americana Ger-
manica." For further information see the obituary on pages 86 ff.
DIETER CUNZ.
Born in 1910. Ph.D. of the University of Frankfurt a. M. 1934.
Professor of German at the University of Maryland, College Park.
Author of The Maryland Germans (1948). Contributed articles on Ger-
man-American immigration history to various professional journals and
periodicals.
PAUL G. GLEIS.
Born in 1887. Ph.D. of the University of Minister 1911.
Professor of German and Indo-European Philology at the Catholic Uni-
versity in Washington, D.C. Contributed articles on philology, folklore
and history to numerous journals, including the Reports of this Society.
Editor of the "Catholic University Studies in German."
KLAUS G. WUST. Born in 1925. Graduate of the Helmholtz Realgymnasium,
Bielefeld, 1944. Studied at Bridge-water College, Virginia, 1949-51. Work
for the Mutual Security Agency, Washington, 1951/52. Contributed to
the American German Review and several newspapers. Preparing a com-
prehensive History of the Germans in Virginia.
THERESE S. WESTERMEIER.
Born in Boulder, Colorado 1902. M.A. of the
University of Colorado 1928. Taught at the University of Colorado from
1928 to the present, Assistant Professor of Modern Languages since 1932.
Contributed to the Colorado Magazine, the American German Review
and Western Folklore.
RICHARD LOWITT.
Born in New York City 1922. Ph.D. of Columbia Univer-
sity 1950. From 1948 to the present Instructor of History at the Univer-
sity of Maryland, College Park. His doctoral dissertation on William E.
Dodge, nineteenth century New York merchant, will be published soon.
Preparing a study on Senator George W. Norris.
ALICE H. FINCKH.
Born in Chicago, Illinois 1908. M. A. of the University of
Maryland 1945. Thesis: "An annotated translation and summary of
Gottfried Duden's Europa und Deutschland von Nord-Amerika aus be-
trachtet" Contributor to and since 1949 Associate Editor of the Ameri-
can German Review in Philadelphia.
