NINETEENTH ANNUAL REPORT
OF THE
SECRETARY
OF THE
Society for the History of the Germans in Maryland.
Mr. President and Gentlemen:
The Society during the year just closing held eight monthly
meetings. Of original articles none was offered, except fragments
of "Histories of German Societies in the United States," a work
under development by the President.
Aside from the usual routine business, the evenings were
taken up with the discussion of a large number of subjects,
chiefly of a historical character or interest.
The Society evinced its interest in "The Blumenspiel,"
which occurred in April, by devoting a superb edition of all its
publications as one of the prizes.
The Society has been placed under obligation to the follow-
ing Societies and gentlemen for donations to our Library:
The Ohio Archæological and Historical Society.
The Illinois State Historical Society.
Deutsch-Amerikanische Historische Gessellschaft v. Illinois.
The Enoch Pratt Free Library.
The Virginia Historical Society.
The Pennsylvania-German Society.
The Historical Society of Wisconsin.
14
The Maryland Historical Society.
The New York State Library.
Drew Theological Seminary.
The Franklin and Marshall College.
Prof. J. Hanno Deiler of New Orleans.
Mr. J. G. Rosengarten of Philadelphia, Pa.
Mr. Emil Schneider of Hoboken, N. J.
No member, either active or corresponding, was added to
our list, but the resignation of several of the former has reduced
the number of our active members at the close of the year to
thirty-nine.
The owners of our two German dailies, have, as in former
years, so again during the past year furnished us gratuitously with
their valuable publications, whilst "The Germania Club" has
again generously enabled the Society to hold its meetings in com-
fortable quarters without any charge therefore.
RESPECTFULLY SUBMITTED,
F. PH. HENNIGHAUSEN, Sec'y.
Baltimore, February 28, 1905.
