9/25, 4-5 PM: Learn about the digital scholarship services and tools offered by the Loyola Notre Dame Library!  

Make Your Writing More Accessible: Creating Accessible Microsoft Word Documents (Virtual)

9/29, 2:30-4 PM: Learn how to create screen-reader accessible Microsoft Word documents! This skill will allow your documents to be easily understood by people who use screen-reader technology.

Creating Costumes and Cosplays in the Makerspace

10/7, 4:30-5:30 PM: This student panel will showcase student work and demonstrate different ways the Innovation Station can help you make a costume! Learn how to apply makerspace equipment to make costumes and props! Whether you’re a serious cosplayer or just planning a Halloween costume, LNDL’s Innovation Station has handy tools and resources. 

Explore the Universe: Telescope Stargazing 

10/7 8-9 PM: Journey from the library to the NDMU practice field to look at the stars and the full moon through a telescope! Led by John Damon of the Enoch Pratt Free Library. 

Decorating Chinese Hand Fans

10/8 4-5 PM: Join Loyola’s Chinese Club to decorate Chinese hand fans and learn about the importance and uses of fans in Chinese culture! All are welcome!

Put That On A Shirt: Creating Embroidery Patterns in InkScape 

10/15 4-5 PM: Learn how to turn digital images and designs into embroidery patterns for use with Innovation Station computerized embroidery machines! 

Manage Your Research: Intro to Zotero (Virtual)

10/16, 12-1 PM: Learn how to use Zotero, a citation manager program supported by LNDL! 

Spooky Season: Laser Cut Halloween Jewelry 

10/28 6-7:30 PM: Learn how to create laser cut and engraved jewelry out of wood and acrylic! This class will cover how to create designs in Adobe Illustrator for laser cutting. Following a laser demonstration, participants will get to assemble (and keep) Halloween-themed earrings and other jewelry! 

Tell Your Own Story: Zinemaking

11/5, 5-6:30 PM: Learn about the history of zines and how to make them, then make your own zines! All materials provided. 

Should We Ask ChatGPT? AI Literacy (Virtual) 

11/6 4-5 PM: Build skills to use AI technologies, communicate and collaborate with AI, and question AI design while critically evaluating AI information output. 

Write That Down: Chinese Calligraphy 

11/10 4-5 PM: Learn how to write Chinese calligraphy! This class will teach both history and technique for practicing this art–no experience necessary!

We Can Build That: 3D Printing and Engineering 

11/18, 4:30-6 PM: Learn about applications of 3D printing in the world of engineering, then get certified to use the Library’s 3D printers! Participants will leave with a 3D printed fidget toy and certification to use the library’s 3D printers! 

Don’t Talk To Me Until I’ve Designed My Mug: Customize Your Own Mug with Sublimation Printing 

12/4 4-5:30 PM: Transfer a photo of your choosing to the surface of a coffee mug and learn about the science of sublimation image transfer! All materials provided. Participants will leave with their own customized coffee mug!
