An elementary education major who is involved with sports teams on campus and the FAC, student A says that she “Felt a personal connection to the author during and after the novel because the book touches upon a lot of things that people question about their faith. I felt that the author really expressed how he felt and the struggles he went through with regards to his religious beliefs and he is definitely someone that a lot of people can relate to” and that “The book really helps you find God even through the hardships faced in everyday life.”
The Shack was recommended to Student A by her mother and her brother. She would recommend this book, especially to people who face hardships and are questioning why there is tragedy in the world.
As a psychology major and sociology minor, Student B felt deeply connected to the author “because I felt I was reading his personal beliefs and ideas regarding his faith in God. In my opinion, the author seemed to write truly from the heart, and was not aiming to try to please everyone regarding his ideas.” Student B connected to the themes of the novel saying, “The author seems to clearly lay out the theme that Christ unconditionally loves each one of us and through that indescribable love granted us complete freedom in our actions. I particularly connected to the theme of freedom because it is often a topic I have debated and thought about numerous times. Young presents the theme in a way I can relate to and understand.”
“It is downright amazing even for non-religious people”
“I feel like it is just a great book if you're spiritual and want to learn more about God.”
“I really felt like
I could apply this to my own life.”
