House of Prostitution
Title
House of Prostitution
Description
Census workers did an in-depth survey on American households and published their findings. In the column on “profession, occupation or trade”, certain houses of prostitution. The specific households of the prostitutes were published and were 114 West 26th St. and 116 West 26th St. It seems interesting to me that these residents would be published to the public. It is a violation of their privacy but these addresses were probably disclosed so that people in NYC would not go near these locations.
